Senior Software Engineer - San Francisco San Francisco, CA

A dynamic and emerging mobile data services company has an immediate need for a Senior Software Engineer. We are located in Downtown Oakland, close to BART and offer a seldom found opportunity to work with some of the brightest engineers in the wireless industry. Our office will be moving to South of Market very soon.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility for delivering new deployment applications, and new technology selections for the software engineering group.

• Contributes policies and procedures for the group
• Contributes to overall group technical direction & architectural technology selections
• Leads the design, development and maintenance of mobile applications
• Hands-on software design and development responsibility  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) and 5-8 years of hands-on software design and development experience.  Masters in Computer Science a plus.
• Strong hands on skills in - J2EE ( JDBC, JMS, Mbeans, Session beans, Servlet, JUnit), Jboss, Hibernate object/relational persistence service, Spring.Java/J2EE application framework, Tomcat, Weblogic, relational databases and SQL (MSSQL, Oracle, logical design and stored procedures)
• Web Technologies (HTML, Javascript, XML, XSL), working knowledge of HTTP protocol.
• Experience in integration with large mobile/web portals – integration with content partners, localization, SSO and billing systems.
• SMSC integration, SMS service aggregator integration, and basic knowledge of SMPP protocol a plus·          Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Experience in design and development of client/server and three-tier software systems and experience in internet and wireless applications development
• Solid understanding of multiple software development methodologies and a proven ability to apply these methodologies in practice
• Proven ability to lead complex software development tasks.
• Thorough knowledge of the Internet and Wireless industry
• Experience in a high-availability and mission-critical environment.·         
• Keen ability to understand business needs.

The Senior Software Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering.
